Procurement Practices

CRUCIAL: Impact 4 - Relevance 4

Supplier selection is concerned with both the commercial and the ethical sides of the relationship. The absolute precondition is that both the supplier itself and its own suppliers adhere to all applicable laws and rules in their own countries. The method of doing business must be compatible with the standards and values of Beter Bed Holding, which are based on the UN Global Compact.

Stakeholders have stated that Beter Bed Holding, as market leader, should manage its chain more actively. The available options for Beter Bed Holding to increase its role in the various production chains will be reviewed in 2015. To that end, the organisation will engage in dialogue with industry organisations such as the IDH (Sustainable Trade Initiative). The IDH helps to make international trading chains more sustainable by creating coalitions of businesses, NGOs and governments. The knowledge that is gained in this alliance will be used in the talks with the suppliers.
